A left-handed virtuoso long linked to the Hendrix lineage, Gales lets touch, time, and tone do the talking here. Gospel and jazz colors surface between the blues runs, and his road-tempered voice carries plenty of grit. Stripped of amps, the phrasing lands even sharper.
